Earth Day is here, and there's no better time to celebrate and appreciate all Mother Nature does to enrich our lives. If you're looking for ways to help out or give back this Earth Day in Chicagoland's unique neighborhoods, then you've come to the right place.
Our real estate agents are excited to share upcoming Earth Day events in Chicagoland, along with helpful tips for greener living in your home.
The Chicago Park District will host its 41st annual citywide Park Cleanups this year. Volunteers can register to pitch in for Cleanup Day on April 18. Cleanups will take place at multiple parks, so keep an eye on the Park District website for details and mark your calendar for other park happenings, such as the Earth Day Resource Fair at Dvorak on April 11.
Humboldt Park is a major hub for Earth Day events in Chicagoland, hosting a full weekend of events, including tree planting and park cleanup. The weekend culminates with the 5K for Earth Day on April 19, offering runners, joggers, and walkers a chance to cross the finish line in unity after experiencing the park's natural beauty on a well-marked course through Humboldt Park.
Located in the beautiful Lincoln Park neighborhood, Montrose Harbor is a charming marina and harbor within walking distance of the equally beautiful Montrose Beach. It's one of the best places to enjoy the Chicago lakefront, and on April 22, volunteers can join the Montrose Harbor Earth Day Cleanup to help preserve and beautify this picturesque area.
Located in the beautiful village of Lisle in Chicago's western suburbs, Morton Arboretum is an incredible place to experience nature's beauty year-round. This year, the arboretum is hosting its annual Arbor Day Plant Sale on April 23-25, marking the end of another memorable Earth Week. It's a fantastic opportunity to stock up on plants for your lawn and garden while also helping support the arboretum's ongoing programming.
Just north of Chicago, on the shores of Lake Michigan, the city of Evanston is hosting its own Earth Day Cleanup on Sunday, April 26. Volunteers will meet up on the north side of Fountain Square in Downtown Evanston to begin picking up trash and debris between noon and 2 p.m. All are welcome, and volunteers will be automatically entered to win a $100 gift card.
